The Stand-Up Project Wins Prestigious Mental Health and Wellbeing Award

The Stand-Up Project (SUP) has been recognised at Channel 7 and Awards Australia’s gala event. We are thrilled to announce that SUP’s co-founder, Dr. Zach Greig, won the prestigious Mental Health and Wellbeing Award!

This award highlights the incredible impact The Stand-Up Project has had on thousands of students, families, and educators across Australia. It recognises our ongoing commitment to addressing bullying, discrimination, and harassment in schools through a student-led approach that transforms school cultures and improves mental health outcomes.

Empowering Students to Lead Change

At its core, The Stand-Up Project is about empowering students to lead. Our program fosters resilience, leadership, and self-efficacy by equipping young people with tools to address complex issues like bullying. Students work collaboratively to create safer, more inclusive school environments.

Inspired by the personal experiences of our team and supported by over 20 years of community empowerment expertise, SUP has become a game-changing initiative in schools. Backed by peer-reviewed research, our evidence-based programs have positively impacted thousands of students in 2024 alone.

This award is a testament to the strength of our mission and the partnerships we have built with schools, teachers, and families. Most importantly, it celebrates the students who step up, take ownership of their school culture, and inspire their peers to do the same.

Acknowledging the Village Behind the Award

This recognition would not have been possible without the collective efforts of so many. From the dedicated teachers and families who champion the program to our incredible team who work tirelessly behind the scenes, this award belongs to everyone who has believed in and supported The Stand-Up Project.

Special thanks to the students—our SUP leaders—whose courage, creativity, and determination to make a difference are at the heart of everything we do. Your voices are the catalyst for change.

Looking Ahead

While this award is a moment to celebrate, it also motivates us to keep pushing forward. Teacher burnout, growing mental health challenges, and the ongoing need for inclusive school cultures highlight just how much work remains to be done.

The Stand-Up Project is committed to expanding our reach and continuing to collaborate with schools and communities to create environments where every student feels safe, valued, and empowered.

To everyone who has supported us on this journey: thank you. This award is a shared achievement, and together we will continue to stand up for a brighter future.

Here’s to creating lasting change, one school at a time.
